Is The Nikon D700 Still A Good Camera

I own two Nikon cameras: the D5200 and the D700. I bought the D700 refurbished in 2021 because I wanted a full-frame DSLR. While I’ve always been happy with my D5200, which I purchased in 2003, it still works great, and I continue to use it regularly. However, the D700 is a different experience, it’s much more responsive, for instance, it allows me to adjust settings without taking my eye off the viewfinder. I’m sure this feature is standard in most modern cameras today, and I truly appreciate it. The image quality from the D700 has impressed me so much that I felt compelled to write about it. That said, I believe it’s not just about the camera, it’s about the photographer behind it.

Controversial Photography Topics

Elephant with a camera

Since writing about debatable photography where I touched on ethics I decided to write up on Controversial photography topics, as a photographer I find it necessary and interesting to know. I once heard about a local guy who liked to photograph public buses, he was asked to stop, but he carried on after all he was not breaking any laws, and he ended up getting badly assaulted. Some of these topics won’t apply to many of us, however, I think you will find them intriguing.

The Ethical Dilemmas of Photography: Controversial Topics

To me, photography is a powerful form of artistic expression, or documenting history and life in general. Photography is more than just capturing an image, it’s about storytelling, immortalizing a moment, and often sparking an emotion. However, it does come with significant responsibility. Over the years, many debates have arisen about the ethics of photography, especially in an age where privacy concerns, social issues, and photo manipulation are prevalent.

Beginners Drone Guide

choosing camera or drone

One of my readers recently, reached out, asking for an introduction to the world of drones. Whether you’re new to the technology or have seen these high-flying devices in action, drones have gained popularity, impacting industries from photography to agriculture. I think I’ll explore what drones are, how they work, and the variety of applications that make them useful with modern innovation.

Drones, known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are remote-controlled flying robots. They come with many features that make them easy to fly (perfect for newbies!) and can range from tiny toy drones to massive ones used for heavy-duty jobs.

So, how did drones come about? Originally, they were developed for military purposes, like surveillance and targeted attacks. Today, everyone can get their hands on one, whether you want to take amazing aerial photos or have fun flying it around. It’s mad that tech meant for defense now lets us take selfies from the sky.

Not all drones are created equal. Here’s a quick breakdown: Toy drones are small and great for practice indoors, camera drones are best for photography lovers, like me, racing drones for those who crave speed, and then there are professional drones loaded with all the bells and whistles for serious tasks like mapping and inspections.

You might wonder why someone would need a drone. For starters, they’re incredibly versatile. Photographers and videographers use them for epic shots that were once impossible. Farmers use them for crop monitoring, and real estate agents showcase properties with stunning aerial views. Even delivery services are finding drones handy.

Debatable Photography

As I have previously discussed in my past articles photography isn’t just about pointing and shooting; it always amazes me that the money spent on a camera is then kept in auto mode. The complex interplay between creativity and technical know-how must be fully appreciated. It is finding that sweet spot where artistic vision meets technical precision. That’s when amazing stuff happens.

The shift from film to digital has revolutionized photography. Back in the days of film, you’d have to be meticulous with every shot because film was precious and expensive. Nowadays with digital, you can experiment endlessly and instantly see the results.

There are myths about mastering photography like thinking you need the most expensive camera or that great photos happen by accident. Trust me, this thinking is just a barrier in your mind. It’s about practice, learning, and courage to try new things. I use a Nikon D700 and have a Nikon D5200 as backup.

Lesser-known Facets Of Photography

A man in deep thought

Over the past weeks, I have discussed photography as a form of art, capturing the perfect image, the right lighting, composition, and moment. Yet, in the rush to perfect these fundamentals, we often overlook the subtle nuances that elevate an image from good to extraordinary. In this article, I want to revisit some aspects of photography that, while not new or groundbreaking, are often overshadowed by the more obvious elements. Mobile Phone Vs Camera

A fight between a mobile phone and a Camera

Photography has come a long way since its inception. I mean, remember those days when taking a photo meant setting up a huge, heavy camera and waiting ages to develop the film? Yeah, we’ve certainly left those days behind. Traditional cameras have evolved into state-of-the-art machines that professional photographers would swear by.

Then came mobile phones. Initially, no one took the tiny pixelated images from early mobile cameras seriously. But look at us now! Mobile phones have not just caught up but, in many cases, rivaled standard cameras in terms of usability and even image quality. Why? Because we live in an age where convenience and speed are king.

This brings a big question: How do mobile phones stack up against traditional cameras? Both have their fans, and both have their merits. But to figure out what’s best for the individual, it’s good to dig a bit deeper into what each offers. From image quality to convenience, from cost to versatility, there’s a lot to consider. So let’s break it down.
